  9. on.  The picture to the left of a 
  10. man lying with his feet toward 
  11. the camera is a dramatic 
  12. example of foreshortening.  The 
  13. manΓÇÖs feet are very close to the 
  14. camera and therefore their 
  15. image on the film is quite large.  
  16. His more distant head forms a 
  17. much smaller image on the 
  18. film.  You may experience this 
  19. effect yourself simply by 
  20. placing your hand close to your 
  21. face and looking from it toward 
  22. other more distant objects.  
  23. Notice how your hand looms 
  24. large in your field of view while 
  25. more distant people, furniture, 
  26. and other objects appear
  27. relatively tiny.
